About Us

The STOP campaign is based in Sibsey, Lincolnshire and was formed in 2007 to fight the plans to build a wind farm on land close to the village.

The first discussion of the proposal to erect the wind farm at Sibsey was at a meeting of the Sibsey Parish Council on 3rd April 2007. Following this there was a public meeting held in the Sibsey village hall. This meeting packed the village hall with about 360 people, more would have attended had the hall been able to accommodate them.
Of the 360 people in the hall, all but 12 were opposed to the proposal.

An Action Group, now named STOP, was formed to enable a coherent and effective opposition to be mobilised.

The STOP group have met regularly since, and in October 2007 Mark Simmonds, our MP attended and pledged his support.

The first stage of the proposal was in the form of a Scoping Report to gauge reaction and to enable Planning Application to be submitted, if the developer decided to proceed. The most recent information is that the Consultants for the proposed wind farm have not yet been instructed to proceed further.

Should the consultants proceed to the next phase, it is proposed that a full survey of the residents of Sibsey will be carried out.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT EVERYONE RESPONDS TO THIS SURVEY SO THAT THE TRUE OPPOSITION CAN BE DETERMINED.

East Lindsey District Council (ELDC) have warned us that:

NO RESPONSE TO THE SURVEY WILL BE COUNTED AS A VOTE IN FAVOUR OF THE WIND FARM.

Earlier this year an affiliated Group TAGON-STOP was formed in Old Leake to alert the parish to the possible effect of the Sibsey wind farm on much of Old Leake. This afiliate’s information is in the Section headed Old Leake, Midville & Stickney.
